Net personality Chris Pirillo has a recent blog entry entitled 50 Reasons to Switch from Microsoft Windows to Apple’s Mac OS X. It’s an interesting read and may make you feel either smug because you’re also a switcher or make you question the reasons behind your move.

For myself, I think that most of the 50 reasons are “small” reasons focused on specific features of the OS or applications. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. To get up to 50 reasons you are going to need to go in that direction. However, a “bigger” reason for me to switch was the bloated nature of Windows:  huge service packs, the need for all that extra anti-virus/spyware/adware software (Pirillo addresses these), and the need to maintain backwards compatibility with lots of crufty old versions of DOS/Windows. The Mac seems to be more elegant and it’s addons seem to be nicely integrated instead of bolted onto the side.
